Men’s Soccer Avenges Loss to Grizzlies, 2-1

DURANGO – October 25, 2017 –After suffering only the second loss all-time in program history to Adams State University on Sept. 29, the Fort Lewis College men's soccer team avenged the loss with a 2-1 win at Dirks Field Wednesday afternoon.
 
The win was the last home regular season game for FLC as they improve to 8-5-4 overall and 8-3-2 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
 
Jean Meibohm netted his first goal of the season at 26:37.  Max Fuentes passed the ball to Meibohm on a free kick over the defenders where Meibohm finished for a 1-0 lead.
 
Seventy-four seconds into the second half, Nicolas Perez took a long shot from 35 yards out for the second goal of the game.  Perez' shot hit the cross bar, bounced down and in for his second goal of the season.
 
Marcus Wilson of ASU netted a goal at 67:52.
 
Hakeem Rabiu led the Skyhawks with five shots (two shots on goal).  Fuentes added three shots as the Skyhawks finished the game out-shooting the Grizzlies, 14-11.
 
Peter Byrne earned his eighth win in goal after making four saves.
 
The Skyhawks will travel to Rapid City, S.D. to face South Dakota School of Mines on Friday at 2 p.m. for the final game of the regular season.  Fort Lewis has clinched a spot in the RMAC championship tournament and be awaiting their seed following Saturday's conference games.
