Skyhawks Chart 2-1 Win over Cougars

DURANGO – October 8, 2017 – The Fort Lewis College men's soccer team scored three goals Sunday afternoon, but only two counted for the Skyhawks as they earned a 2-1 win over Colorado Christian University Sunday afternoon at Dirks Field.
 
A long errant pass from a Skyhawks defender back to the goalkeeper ended up as an own goal at 5:12 in the first half. 
 
Ty Lang connected with Ryan Lee at 16:19 to even the score at 1-1.  The goal was Lee's team leading fifth goal of the season.
 
Lee received his second yellow card of the game at 65:00, giving the Cougars a one man advantage for the final 25 minutes of regulation.
 
Nicolas Perez found the back of the net for the first time this season when he converted a penalty kick at 73:41 for the game-winning goal.
 
Max Fuentes attempted a game high four shots.  Two of Lee's three shots landed on goal as the Skyhawks finished with 15 shot attempts and six on goal.
 
Peter Byrne stopped four shots in 90 minutes between the posts.
 
The Skyhawks (5-3-4, 5-1-2 RMAC) will play at Regis University on Friday, Oct. 13, and at Colorado Mines on Sunday, Oct. 15.
