ESPANOLA, N.M. – Five Fort Lewis College men's basketball players scored in double digits Friday night to defeat NAIA Northern New Mexico College in an exhibition game for the Skyhawks, 96-82.
The game, which counted toward the Eagles record, moved them to 2-4 on the season.
DJ Miles led the Skyhawks with 17 points. Nine of his points came from the free throw line as he sank 9-of-10. He also hit 3-of-7 from the floor, including six points from long range.
Rasmus Bach came off the bench and netted 13 points and dished out three assists.
Marquel Beasley and
Daniel Hernandez each netted 12 points.
Collin Weaver made 3-of-4 from the floor and 5-of-6 from the charity stripe for 11 points.
The Skyhawks were fouled 33 times and made 38-of-48 from the charity stripe. FLC finished the game shooting 51.9 percent from the floor (27-of-52) and 40 percent from long distance (4-of-10).
The Eagle Bryce Simmons led all scorers with 26 points.
Fort Lewis will face NNMC twice during the regular season - Nov. 16 and Dec. 18. The Skyhawks, ranked No. 16 in the NABC preseason poll, will open their season Nov. 11-12 against Eastern New Mexico University and Western New Mexico University in the Dreamstyle Arena in Albuquerque, N.M.
