Men’s Basketball Opens Conference Season on the Road

  • The Fort Lewis College men's basketball team is ranked No. 19 in the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) in this week's poll.
  • This is their third straight week being ranked in the NABC Top 25 poll.
  • The team hits the road to start conference play against Colorado State-Pueblo (3-3) and New Mexico Highlands (5-1). The Skyhawks will face the ThunderWolves on Friday, Dec. 1 at 7:30 p.m., and the Cowboys on Saturday, Dec. 2 at 7 p.m.
  • Against the ThunderWolves, CSUP leads the all-time series against FLC, 48-47, and 29-17 when facing the Skyhawks on their home court.
  • The Skyhawks lead the all-time series with the Cowboys 60-39, and they hold a 23-18 record when playing NMHU on the road.
  • Fort Lewis enters the weekend 3-1 this season (1-1 vs. NCAA Division II schools).
  • The Skyhawks are ranked third in the RMAC for scoring offense with 87.7 points per game. They are also ranked in the top 5 in scoring margin (+14.3), field goal percentage (.498) and assists (19.7 per game).
  • Senior Rasmus Bach has scored 1,446 career points.  He needs 416 points to break the all-time scoring record held by DeAndre Lansdowne (2007-11) who has 1,861 career points.
  • Bach ranks in the top 10 in the RMAC for scoring (55), free throw percent (1.000), field goal percent (.583), and assists (16, avg. 5.3).  He has made all 11 attempts at the charity stripe.
  • Brandon Wilson leads the RMAC in rebounds with 29, averaging 9.7 per game. Wilson is also tied for the fourth most blocked shots in the league with five.
  • Marquel Beasley holds the second spot in the RMAC for rebounds (28) and is tied with Wilson in blocked shots.
  • The Skyhawks will return home for the Third Annual White Out game on Friday, Dec. 8 at 7:30p.m. to face Colorado Mesa. The first 1,300 fans will receive free t-shirts.  One lucky fan will be selected for a chance to a win free 2018 Ford Escape during the men's halftime Basketball Challenge Contest.  FLC will play host to Western State on Saturday, Dec. 9 at 7:30 p.m.
