No. 16 Skyhawks to Play Three Games in Seven Days

  • The Fort Lewis College women's basketball team is ranked No. 16 in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) National poll (Dec. 12, 2017).  
  • FLC has been ranked in all five WBCA polls this season.  The highest the Skyhawks have ever been nationally rank was No. 2 (2008-09 season).
  • Fort Lewis holds a current record of 8-1 (7-1 vs. NCAA Division II teams) and 3-1 in the RMAC.
  • The Skyhawks will be facing Adams State (2-4, 0-4 RMAC), Westminster (3-5, 2-2 RMAC) and Northern New Mexico College (4-8). The Skyhawks will play the Grizzlies on Tues., Dec. 12 at 5:30p.m. in Whalen, then hit the road to play the Griffins on Fri., Dec. 5 at 5:30p.m. and head back home to face the Eagle on Mon., Dec. 18 at 5:30p.m.
  • six of the next seven games will be played at home.
  • The Skyhawks swept the Grizzlies (63-48, 87-52) and the Griffins (78-66, 65-61) last year.
  • Fort Lewis played the Eagles earlier in the season and defeated them 105-51.
  • The Skyhawks fall within the top five in the RMAC for scoring (second, 70.3 points per game), scoring defense (third, 54.1 points allowed per game), scoring margin (third, +16.2), free throw percent (second, .773), field goal percent (fourth, .407), blocked shots (fourth, 3.4 blocks per game) and assists (third, 17.6 assists per game).
  • Freshman Vivian Gray is ranked in the top 10 in the RMAC in scoring (first, 16.2 points per game), rebounds (T-fifth, 8.3 per game), assists (10th, 3.4), steals (T-sixth, 1.8 per game)  and blocked shots (first, 2.0).
  • Senior Astrea Reed is ranked fifth in the RMAC in free throw pct. (.853) and seventh in scoring (14.3 points per game).
  • Reed was named RMAC Offensive Player of the Week on Dec. 11, 2017.
  • Briana Clah is first in the league in assists to turnover ratio with 3.0 mark. She has dished out 33 assists and committed only 11 turnovers. Her 3.7 dimes per game are the ninth most in the RMAC.
  • Sophomore Kayla Herrera is averaging 1.8 steals per game, just 1.2 steals behind the league leader. Her 28 assists and 18 turnovers land her seventh in the league with a 1.6 assist to turnover ratio.
