Strong Finish Results in 54-48 Win over Regis

DURANGO – December 30, 2017 – Senior point guard Astrea Reed made two free throws with eight seconds left in regulation to give the No. 15 Fort Lewis College women's basketball team a 52-48 lead over Regis University Saturday night at Whalen Gymnasium.  The Skyhawks would go on to earn a 54-48 win over the Rangers.

Regis attempted a three-point shot with six seconds left in regulation to potentially bring them within one point of FLC, but freshman forward Vivian Gray blocked the shot.  Five seconds later Briana Clah hit two free throws to secure the win.

With tonight's win, the Skyhawks improve to 13-1 overall, 7-1 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, and 9-0 at home.

Gray led all scorers with 21 points and chipped in five steals, two blocked shots and an assist.

Seven of Reed's nine points came from the charity stripe.

The Skyhawks were out-rebounded, 41-28, but stacked up 11 steals and forced Regis to commit 19 turnovers.

FLC finished the game making 20-of-49 field goals and 14-of-18 free throws, but were held to no three-pointers on eight tries.

The Skyhawks will wrap up their five game home stand on Jan. 5-6 against MSU Denver and UCCS.
