Fort Lewis Travels to Regis for the First Round of the RMAC Tournament

The Fort Lewis College women's basketball team will play at No. 4 seed Regis for the opening round of the RMAC playoffs as the No. 5 seed in the RMAC Women's Basketball Championship Tournament.
 
NOTES
FLC enters tournament play with the No. 5 seed in the league. The Skyhawks finished the regular season 21-6 and 16-6 in RMAC play. Fort Lewis is 10-3 on the road this season.
 
Redshirt freshman Kayla Herrera garnered the RMAC Freshman of the Year award with her performance this season starting in all 27 games this season. She led the league with 2.0 steals per game and added 12.9 points per game. Herrera also was on the Academic Honor Roll.
 
Briana Clah was recognized in the First Team All-RMAC while leading her team with 14.0 points per game and 3.6 assists per game. She is top 10 in the league in points per game (ninth), assists per game (fifth), three-point field goal percentage (ninth, .338), free throw percentage (eighth, .841), and assist to turnover ratio (eighth, 1.2).
 
Alyssa Yocky was named to the Second Team All-RMAC. The 6-foot-0 sophomore from La Cueva High School in Albuquerque is averaging 12.6 points per game on 48.2 percent shooting (123-of-255) from the court. Yocky's 9.0 rebounds a game is the second most in the conference.
 
Fort Lewis played two games this past week and came away with two victories, one home and one away win. On Tuesday FLC defeated Adams State University at home 87-52 and pulled out a 65-61 road victory on Friday against Westminster College.
 
The Skyhawks had five players score in double figures during Senior Night against the Grizzlies. Kayla Herrera led the team with 17 points and five steals, and Alyssa Yocky added a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Briana Clah added 12 points, and Shelby Patterson and Natalie Stillwell each added 10 points.
 
In the final game of the regular season, FLC was led in points by Herrera who poured in 18 points. Clah added 14 points in the narrow victory over the Griffins.
 
Ande Lampert has rejected 1.5 shots per game in 27 games which is the third most blocked shot average in the RMAC.
 
Alyssa Yocky has grabbed the second most rebounds in the league. She is averaging 9.0 rebounds per game.
 
Fort Lewis owns the best scoring defense (58.9 points per game), three-point field goal defense percentage (26.1 percent) and best field goal percentage defense (33.1 percent) in the RMAC. The Skyhawks are second in the league in blocked shots with 114 rejections (4.2 per game).
 
SCOUTING THE RANGERS
Regis finished the season with a 21-6 record, 16-6 in the RMAC. The Rangers enter tournament play as the No. 4 seed.
                          
The Rangers are led in scoring by Mary Sigler who averages 13.1 points per game. Kaylie Rader is third in the conference for field goal percentage shooting 54.4 percent from the court.
 
RU's offense cranks out 66.9 points per game, which is seventh in the RMAC. The Rangers have the third best scoring defense in the league giving up 59.1 points per game. They lead the league in rebounding margins by outrebounding their opponents by 9.8 per game.
 
UP NEXT
If Fort Lewis wins tonight's game, they will continue tournament play on Friday, March 3rd against the winner of Colorado State University-Pueblo and South Dakota School of Mines.  The highest remaining seed after tonight's quarterfinal games will host the RMAC Final Four.
