DURANGO, Colo. – March 18, 2017 –
Taylor Cabrera and
Sammy Delli each scored three goals to lead the Fort Lewis College women's lacrosse team to a 16-4 win over Oklahoma Baptist University Saturday afternoon at Ray Dennison Memorial Field.
The win improves the Skyhawks to 2-3 overall and 2-1 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The Bison drop to 2-6 on the season and 0-4 in league games.
Cabrera netted the first goal of the game just 37 seconds after the first draw control. She added two more goals in the second half while Delli notched all three of her goals in the second half.
Delaney Benson, who finished with two goals, scored the game-winning goal at 16:55.
Brooke Galle also found the back of the net twice, while
Nikki Fry and
Shelby Madden each scored two goals and added an assist.
Alyssa Montoya and
Ryann Pierce rounded out the Skyhawks goal scorers. Pierce was one of four Skyhawks to record an assist.
Four of FLC's goals were free position goals.
Megan Longtain picked up nine ground balls. Cabrera won four draw controls and Pierce added three draw controls.
Alyssa Spencer recorded the win in goal after making 11 saves in 60 minutes between the posts.
FLC accounted for 42 shots, 22 more than the Bison. The Skyhawks also grabbed 33 ground balls to OBU's 24 ground balls.
The Skyhawks will play host to Regis University on March 26 at 12 p.m. in non-conference action.
