DURANGO, Colo. – March 26, 2017 – Five of the Fort Lewis College women's lacrosse team's eight goals were scored in the second half Sunday afternoon at Ray Dennison Memorial Field. The Skyhawks lost a 16-8 decision to No. 17 Regis University.
The non-conference loss moves FLC to 2-4 overall while the Rangers remain undefeated at 8-0.
Kelli Warmouth and
Sammy Delli led the Skyhawks with two goals each.
Jocelyn Welberg scored her first career goal at 22:21 in the first half to cut into Regis' lead, 4-1. Delli and Warmouth scored back-to-back goals in the final 82 seconds of the half as RU took a 9-3 lead into halftime.
Delli,
Delaney Benson, Allena Wolfback, Warmouth and
Brooke Galle scored goals for FLC in the second half. Wolfback's goal with 8:12 left in regulation was her first score of the season.
Warmouth finished with two goals, an assist, four shots and three ground balls. Galle attempted a team high five shots and
Megan Longtain added a team high four ground balls.
The Rangers' Wendy Donier tallied a game high six points after scoring five goals. Ali Vanek and Andrea Macalalad each added a hat trick.
Alyssa Spencer made three saves in goal in 45:45 between the posts.
FLC was outshot, 28-26 and won 12 of the 26 draw controls. The Skyhawks converted two of eight free position shots.
Fort Lewis will travel to Colorado Mesa University March 29 for a 4 p.m. match against the Mavericks.
