DURANGO, Colo. – April 13, 2017 – For the first time in program history, the Fort Lewis College women's lacrosse team recorded a shutout. The Skyhawks posted a 19-0 win over University of Colorado Colorado Springs Thursday afternoon at Ray Dennison Memorial Field. The game also marked the first time both teams played each other; this is UCCS' first year sponsoring women's lacrosse.
FLC netted 12 of their 19 goals in the first half after outshooting UCCS, 20-5. The Skyhawks finished the game with 33 shot attempts while holding UCCS to seven shots.
Nine Skyhawks found the back of the net, including three with hat tricks.
Nikki Fry recorded a career high and game high five points with two goals and three assists.
Brooke Galle and
Taylor Cabrera each notched a hat trick and an assist, and
Ryann Pierce tallied a hat trick.
Shelby Madden was one of five Skyhawks to tally at least four points with her two goals and two assists, while
Allena Wolfblack added a goal and three assists.
Senior goalkeeper
Alyssa Spencer earned her fifth win in goal after stopping all five shots on goal in 30 minutes of action.
Cabrera won four of the Skyhawks 14 draw controls.
Delaney Benson picked up a game high five ground balls.
The Skyhawks will travel to Regis University on April 22 before facing Colorado State-Pueblo on April 23 at home.
