ALAMOSA, Colo. – April 28, 2017 –
Ryann Pierce matched the entire goal output of the Adams State University women's lacrosse team as Fort Lewis College charted a 15-4 win over the Grizzlies at the ASU Lacrosse Field in Alamosa, Colo. Friday afternoon.
The Skyhawks close out the regular season with an 8-6 overall record and a 6-3 mark in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. ASU finishes their season 2-13 overall and 1-8 in league games.
Pierce was one of three Skyhawks to record a hat trick against the Grizzlies.
Taylor Cabrera added three goals and an assist, as did
Alyssa Montoya.
Three of Pierce's four goals came in the first half as FLC jumped to a 7-0 lead in the first 15 minutes of action. The Skyhawks entered halftime with a decisive 9-1 lead.
FLC outscored the Grizzlies in the second half, 6-3, as six different Skyhawks found the back of the net.
Delaney Benson and
Sammy Delli each assisted on two goals while adding a goal of their own.
Cabrera led both teams with six shots while all four of Pierce's attempts were on goal. Cabrera also notched three draw controls.
Ashley Muckway picked up a team high four ground balls.
Alyssa Spencer played the first 40 minutes in goal, making four saves and allowing two goals before
Daris Wienk finished the game in goal, tallying one save.
FLC outshot ASU, 25-10, and won 13 of the 21 draw controls.
The Skyhawks will enter the 2017 RMAC Tournament as the No. 4 seed. The tournament will start on Thursday, May 4.
