DURANGO – September 10, 2017 – Facing the seventh-ranked team in NCAA Division II, the Fort Lewis College men's team fell to St. Edward's University Sunday afternoon, 1-0, at Dirks Field.
The loss drops the Skyhawks to 0-2-2 in the preseason. SEU improves to 3-1-0.
The lone goal of the game was scored at 7:42 in the first half. Dylan Armstrong's shot was deflected off a Skyhawks defender and ended up in the back of the net.
FLC held a slight advantage on shot attempts, 14-11, as each team landed five shots on goal.
Churchill Onumonu recorded a game high five shots (two on goal). Both of
Hakeem Rabiu's shot attempts were on goal.
Peter Byrne stopped four shots in between the posts. He moves to 0-2-2 in goal this season.
The Skyhawks will open the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference season Sept. 15 at UCCS, and September 17 at Colorado State-Pueblo.
