Orediggers Hand Skyhawks 41-7 Loss

GOLDEN, Colo. – September 30 – The Fort Lewis College football team was held to 11 first downs in a 41-7 loss Saturday afternoon at Colorado School of Mines.  The loss moves FLC to 1-4 overall and 1-4 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
 
Trailing 34-0 entering the fourth quarter, Bo Coleman found AJ Shaw for a 24-yard pass.  The Skyhawks drive started after Donell Pleasant intercepted Cody Limmer and returned the ball 11 yards to the Mines 24-yard line. The next play resulted in the 24-yard scoring pass to cut into the Orediggers lead, 34-7.
 
Colorado Mines responded on the next drive after running three plays for 71 yards for the final score of the game, 41-7.
 
FLC had one final chance to add points on the scoreboard.  With 65 seconds left in regulation and the Skyhawks with a first-and-goal on the Mines four-yard line, the Orediggers intercepted a pass in the endzone to finalize the win, 41-7.
 
The Skyhawks ran 51 plays for 244 yards, including 174 passing yards.
 
Mines amassed 308 yards on the ground contributing to their 447 yards of total offense.
 
Bo Coleman completed 14-of-21 passes for 174 yards and one score (one interception).  Tyler Telphy carried the ball 11 times for 20 yards.  Elijah Huff added three carries for 35 yards.
 
Mason Hatton caught five passes for a total of 42 yards.  Arealous Hughes' one catch went for 47 yards.
 
Pleasant posted a team high 11 tackles (seven solo) to go with his interception.  Isiah Mayberry and Darrian Stickney each tallied eight tackles.
 
FLC will remain on the road next Saturday when they travel to Western State Colorado University for a 1 p.m. game.
