Vivian Gray scored a career high 33 points as the Fort Lewis College women's basketball team snapped a three game losing streak Saturday night at Chadron State College, 78-66.
The win marks the Skyhawks 10
th league win of the season as they improve to 16-4 overall and 10-4 in the RMAC. The Eagles drop to 3-16 overall and 1-12 in league games.
Gray, who played all 40 minutes against the Eagles, made 12-of-22 field goals and all eight free throw attempts while recording her third double-double of the season with 15 rebounds (nine defensive).
Starting senior guards
Astrea Reed and
Shelby Patterson each knocked in 11 points. Reed dished out four assists, the second most on the team behind
Kayla Herrera's game high six assists. Herrera was the fourth Skyhawks starter to score in double digits when she tallied 10 points.
The Skyhawks shot just under 40 percent for the game, making 25-of-63 field goals (39.7 percent). FLC attempted 11 more free throws than the Eagles, sinking 24-of-34 (70.6 percent).
Fort Lewis never trailed against the Eagles and led CSC for almost 39 minutes, including a 13-point lead in the second half.
FLC will return to Whalen Gymnasium to play host to Colorado Christian University on Jan. 27 at 1 p.m.
