Men’s Basketball Plays Host to Roadrunners, Mountain Lions

  • The Fort Lewis College men's basketball team will play host to MSU Denver and University of Colorado Colorado Springs this Friday and Saturday.  Both games are set to tip-off at 7:30 p.m. from Whalen Gymnasium.
  • The Roadrunners have earned a 7-6 overall record this season and are tied with Colorado Mines for the second best record in the league at 6-1.
  • Saturday's opponent, UCCS, has lost their last four games.  The Mountain Lions are 4-9 overall and 1-6 in the RMAC.
  • Fort Lewis College moved up to No. 20 in this week's National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) poll, two spots higher than last week's No. 22 ranking.
  • This is their seventh straight week being ranked in the NABC Top 25 poll.
  • In his third year, head coach Bob Pietrack is 67-13 (.836), and 46-8 in RMAC games (.852), and has led the Skyhawks to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances.
  • The Skyhawks lead the RMAC in scoring offense (89.4 points per game), scoring margin (+13.2 points per game), rebound margin (+5.6), assist-to-turnover margin (1.40), blocked shots per game (4.8), total blocks (63) and field goal percent defense (41.4 percent). The Skyhawks are second in the league in assists per game (second, 17.8), field goal percentage (second, 49.9 percent), free throw attempts (352), and free throws made (255).
  • Senior Rasmus Bach has scored 1,574 career points.  He needs 288 points to break the all-time scoring record held by DeAndre Lansdowne (2007-11) who has 1,861 career points. Bach is currently fourth in the career books in scoring, second in made free throws (414), eighth in field goals made (532) and 12th in rebounds (545).
  • Through 13 games this season, Bach is fourth in the RMAC for free throw percent (90.2), assists (60), assists per game (4.6), and minutes played (34:13).
  • Brandon Wilson ranks in the top 10 in the league in rebounds per game (fourth, 8.1), and eighth in blocks per game (1.15).  He has been named the RMAC Defensive Player of the Wee twice this season (Jan. 1, 2018 and Dec. 11, 2017).
  • Marquel Beasley is currently third in the RMAC in field goal percentage (54.5 percent), fifth in blocked shots per game (1.31), total blocks (17) and rebounds per game, and sixth in total rebounds (94).
  • Riley Farris is tied with Beasley in blocks per game (1.31) and total blocks (17).
  • FLC will travel to Black Hills State University on Jan. 12, and South Dakota Mines on Jan. 13.
