Softball to Wrap up Non-Conference Season in Tucson, Ariz.

  • The Fort Lewis College softball team will travel to Tucson, Ariz. for five games between Feb. 16-18 against Mary, Franklin Pierce, California Baptist, Western Oregon and Dixie State.  All games will be played at Lincoln Park.
     
  • The Skyhawks hold a record of 3-7 overall.   Their five games at the Cactus Classic will be their final non-conference games of the regular season.
     
  • Fort Lewis is ranked in the top five in the RMAC in multiple categories including doubles (second, 17), total bases (second, 128), walks (second, 29), hits (second, 78), total plate appearances (second, 316), at bats (second, 281), fielding percentage (third, .956), assists (first, 91) and fielding double plays (first, 5).
     
  • Mandy Lorenson is ranked in the top five in the RMAC in several categories including batters struck out (third, 22), batters struck out looking (second, 9) and innings pitched (fourth, 26.2).
     
  • Senior Tristen Gilbert is tied for first for a fielding percentage of 1.000 and fielding double plays (T-first, 4).
     
  • Lauren Caldwell's four doubles have her tied for the second most in the RMAC.
     
  • Angelique Elemen is tied for first with her six homeruns. Elemen is also ranked in the top five for hits (third, 14), runs batted in (fifth, 13), total plate appearances (T-fourth, 38) and total bases (T-first, 34).
     
  • Elemen was named RMAC Player of the Week (Feb. 13, 2018) after she batted .524 in five games last week in St. George, Utah at the DSU Easton Classic.  She hit two walk-off homeruns against Dominican and Northwest Nazarene.  Elemen hit a homerun in all five games, including two homeruns against NNU.  She finished with 11 hits, nine runs scored, 12 runs batted in, two doubles and six homeruns.  Elemen recorded a .545 on-base percentage and a 1.1476 slugging percentage.
     
  • The Skyhawks will play their home opener on Feb. 24 in a doubleheader against Colorado School of Mines beginning at 12 p.m., followed by Sunday's doubleheader at 11 a.m.
     
  • Due to field renovations to the softball complex, the Skyhawks will play their games against the Orediggers at the Tiger Sports Complex in Aztec, N.M.
