PUEBLO, Colo. – February 24, 2018 –
Delaney Benson and
Shelby Madden each recorded a hat trick for the Fort Lewis College women's lacrosse team in a non-conference match at Colorado State-Pueblo Saturday afternoon in Pueblo, Colo. The Skyhawks lost to the ThunderWolves, 14-11, marking the first time in program history FLC fell to CSUP. The Skyhawks own the all-time record over the Pack, 6-1.
Taylor Cabrera found Madden at 27:29 for the first goal of the game. CSUP tied the game one minute later and took the lead at 25:01 in the first half, 2-1, sustaining the lead for the remainder of the game.
Regan Olson finished with two goals and two assists. Cabrera tallied two goals, an assist and won five draw controls, tying the team lead with
Kelli Warmouth.
Warmouth scored one goal and attempted a game high nine shots. She also picked up a game high five ground balls and caused a game high five turnovers.
Ally Guerrero played all 60 minutes in goal, notching six saves.
FLC out-shot the ThunderWolves, 31-27, and picked up 27 ground balls to the ThunderWolves 23.
The Skyhawks (0-2) will return to action next Saturday, March 3 at Regis. FLC will play four games in seven days against the Rangers, at Rockhurst (March 5), at Lindenwood (March 7) and at Oklahoma Baptist (March 9).
