NEW ORLEANS – February 9, 2018 – The Fort Lewis College women's cross country team, including three individuals, were recognized by the United States Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for their academic achievements.
"The work our women did in the classroom and on the trails deserves to be commended," said head coach
Joshua Coon. "Running and academics are closely related in that they require discipline, persistence, and long term care. Our women have shown that kind of commitment to excellence both in the classroom and while racing."
The Skyhawks women's team was one of 176 teams to be named a 2017 USTFCCCA Division II Women's Cross Country All-Academic Team. The Skyhawks earned a 3.4 in the classroom this past season.
Overall, there were 176 teams – 157 women's teams and 119 men's teams – that picked up All-Academic honors. Union (Tenn.) paced the women's side with the highest team grade point average of 3.92. Alderson Broaddus and Azusa Pacific tied for the best men's grand point average, as each program posted a 3.77 in the classroom.

Erin Renner earned All-Academic accolades.
A senior from Lakewood, Colo.,
Erin Renner qualified for the NCAA Division II Women's Cross Country Championship race. A first team All-RMAC and All-South Central Region performer, Renner recorded the fourth and sixth fastest 6K times in school history. Her time of 21:46 at the NCAA South Central Regional race earned her all-region accolades and the fourth fastest 6K time.
An English major, Renner has a 3.68 grade point average at FLC.
Junior
Becca Bramley (Littleton, Colo.) recorded two top-10 6K times this season. She posted the fifth fastest time in school history on Nov. 4 at the NCAA South Central Regional Meet in Canyon, Texas with a time of 21:52.78. Her 6K time of 22:05.4 at the UC-Riverside meet on Sept. 16 is the 10
th fastest time in program history.
Bramley is a Psychology major with a 3.32 grade point average.
A junior from San Antonio, Texas,
Anastashia George ran in five races this season and recorded a career best 6K time of 23:13.2 at the NCAA South Central Regional championship race.
George has a 3.69 grade point average as an Exercise Science major.
A total of 675 athletes – 393 women and 282 men – earned individual All-Academic honors, with 89 posting a perfect 4.0 grade point average.
The individual All-Academic honor was awarded to those athletes who have compiled a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.25 and finished among the top 30 percent of eligible runners at his or her regional championships and/or the top half of the field at the NCAA Championships.
