COLORADO SPRINGS – March 17, 2018 – Leading 5-4 at halftime, the Fort Lewis College women's lacrosse team scored 10 goals in the second half to earn a 15-8 win at University of Colorado Colorado Springs Saturday afternoon at Mountain Lion Stadium.
With the win, the Skyhawks improve to 3-4 overall and 3-1 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. UCCS drops to 4-5 on the season and 0-2 in league games.
Taylor Cabrera scored a free position goal at 19:56 in the first half to give the Skyhawks a 3-2 lead. FLC would lead the Mountain Lions the remainder of the game. The Skyhawks closed the game outscoring UCCS, 10-3.
Four Skyhawks recorded a hat trick against the Mountain Lions.
Kelli Warmouth and
Regan Olson found the back of the net four times, and Cabrera and Anna Nelson each scored three goals.
Olson led the offense with six points after she assisted on two goals. Olson and Cabrera each went 2-for-3 in free position shots.
Cabrera led the Skyhawks with four caused turnovers and picked up a game high eight ground balls.
Daris Wienk played all 60 minutes between the posts.
FLC will open their home season March 24 with a conference game against Regis University at 11 a.m.
