DURANGO, Colo. – March 24, 2018 – No. 13 Regis University spoiled the Fort Lewis College women's lacrosse home opener Saturday afternoon, 21-5, at Ray Dennison Memorial Field.
The loss moves FLC to 3-5 overall and 3-2 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. RU improves to 7-2 on the season and 3-0 in league games.
Taylor Cabrera found the back of the net at 27:52 to give the Skyhawks a 1-0 lead. Regis responded to net eight straight goals before
Kelli Warmouth scored on a free position shot at 15:52.
Trailing 16-2 at the half,
Brooke Galle, Warmouth and
Abby Escandon each added a goal for the Skyhawks in the second half.
Warmouth led FLC's offense with two goals. All three shot attempts were on goal. Cabrera's four shots were a team high, while
Anna Dennison tallied a team high nine draw controls.
Daris Wienk made four saves in goal.
The Rangers Sarah Myres led both teams with nine points (five goals, four assists).
Fort Lewis was outshot, 30-14. FLC cleared the ball on seven of nine attempts and converted 2-of-4 free position shots.
The Skyhawks will return to action on Friday, April 6 against Adams State University at 3 p.m.
