DURANGO, Colo. – April 6, 2018 – For the second time in school history, the Fort Lewis College women's lacrosse team held an opponent scoreless. The Skyhawks posted a 21-0 home win over Adams State University Friday afternoon at Ray Dennison Memorial Field.
FLC also notched a shutout win against University of Colorado Colorado Springs on April 13, 2017 (W, 19-0).
Friday's win improves the Skyhawks to 4-5 on the season and 4-2 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. Adams State falls to 1-6 on the year and 0-4 in league games.
Abby Escandon led FLC in goals (four), assists (two), points (six), shots (five) and shots on goal (five).
Kelli Warmouth also added four goals and an assist for five points.
Anna Dennison and
Taylor Cabrera each won five draw controls. Cabrera added a hat trick as eight Skyhawks netted at least one goal, and seven Skyhawks scored at least two goals.
Daris Wienk made four saves in goal in the first half, followed by
Ally Guerrero's four saves in the second half.
FLC outshot the Grizzlies, 34-15, and won 18 of the 23 draw controls.
Fort Lewis will play host to Colorado Mesa University on Sunday at 12 p.m.
