KANSAS CITY, Mo. – March 5, 2018 – The Fort Lewis College women's lacrosse team earned their first win of the season Monday afternoon in Kansas City, Mo. The Skyhawks defeated Rockhurst University, 13-9.
FLC never trailed in the game and took their largest lead, 13-8, when
Shelby Madden scored the final goal for FLC with 79 ticks left in the game.
Taylor Cabrera and
Regan Olson each scored a hat trick for the Skyhawks. Cabrera and Olson each landed four shots on goal as FLC finished with 25 shot attempts (19 shots on goal).
Kelli Warmouth led FLC with five points on two goals and three assists. Warmouth also won a team high five draw controls.
FLC caused 14 turnovers on RU with Warmouth, Cabrera and Ashely Muckway each accounting for three.
Daris Wienk played all 60 minutes in goal, stopping three shots.
FLC outshot the Hawks, 25-16, and picked up 13-7 ground balls.
The Skyhawks will travel to St. Charles, Mo. to face No. 3 Lindenwood University on Wednesday, March 7 at 6 p.m. (MT).
