Men’s Basketball Heads to Texas for NCAA Tournament

  • The Fort Lewis College men's basketball team is the No. 4 seed in the NCAA South Central Region tournament.  West Texas A&M University is the No. 1 seed and will host the tournament March 10-13 at the First United Bank Center in Canyon, Texas.
  • FLC will face No. 5 seed Texas A&M-Commerce on Saturday, March 10 at 7:30 p.m. (MT) in the quarterfinal round.  The winner between FLC and TAMC will take on the winner between No. 1 seed West Texas A&M and No. 8 seed Colorado School of Mines on Sunday, March 11 at 6:30 p.m. (MT).
  • Saturday's meeting against Texas A&M-Commerce will be the first ever between the two programs.
  • FLC is 5-10 (.333) all-time in the NCAA post-season tournament.  After going 0-6 in their first six appearances to the NCAA tournament, the Skyhawks have won five of their last nine games.

  • FLC won their sixth regular season championship title this season.
  • Senior guard Rasmus Bach is second all-time at FLC in scoring with 1,834 points.  He is 28 points away from breaking DeAndre Landsdowne's all-time record.  Bach is also ranked second in the career record books in free throws (581, record-547), third in made field goals (613, record-682), eighth in rebounds (633, record-1,054), and sixth in assists (320, record-586).
  • The Skyhawks enter the NCAA tournament with an overall record of 24-6. They finished the RMAC season with a league best 18-4 mark.
  • Fort Lewis was one win away from going undefeated in Whalen Gymnasium this year.  The Skyhawks lost an 88-80 decision to Regis University in the RMAC Tournament Championship game.
  • FLC is 46-2 at home in the last three seasons, including a 16-1 record in 2017-18.
  • Five Fort Lewis College men's basketball student-athletes have earned 2018 All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Men's Basketball postseason honors.  Rasmus Bach (Austin, Texas) was named to the All-RMAC first team, while Daniel Hernandez (El Paso, Texas) and Marquel Beasley (Rock Island, Ill.) garnered second team honors.  Seniors DJ Miles (Lakewood, Colo.) and Brandon Wilson (Littleton, Colo.) were named to the Honorable Mention team.
