Skyhawks Softball Fall Twice at Chadron State College

CHADRON, Neb. – April 28, 2018 – The Fort Lewis College softball team was held to two runs Saturday afternoon in a doubleheader at Chadron State College.  The Skyhawks lost the series opener, 3-1, and fell in game two, 10-1 (five innings).
 
The losses move FLC to 15-37 overall and 9-29 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.  The Eagles improve to 14-31 on the season and 12-23 in league games.
 
In game one on Saturday, McKenna Hefley batted in Julia Roberts in the fourth inning to tie the game at 1-1.  The Eagles added a run in the fourth and sixth innings to record the win.
 
Mandy Lorenson pitched all six innings, fanning seven batters and allowing only one earned run on four hits.
 
The second game on Saturday saw the Eagles grab a 3-0 lead in the second inning.  They added seven more runs in the fourth inning.
 
FLC's lone run of the game came in the top of the fifth inning when Kellsi Peterson led off the inning with a single home run.
 
Kelly Decker pitched the first three innings, allowing four runs on four hits.  Kassidy Trumbo pitched the final inning, surrendering six runs on five hits.
 
The Skyhawks will close out their season tomorrow with a doubleheader beginning at 11 a.m.
