Men’s Soccer Dominates Adams State in 4-0 Win on the Road

ALAMOSA, Colo. – Backed by goals from Landon Gibson, Bar Hazut, Ryan Lee and Hakeem Rabiu, the Fort Lewis College men's soccer team cruised to a 4-0 win over Adams State University in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action Sunday at the ASU Soccer Field.

FLC (3-0-2, 1-0-1 RMAC) held a 5-3 edge on shots in the first half and scored the only goal over the first 45 minutes. The Skyhawks launched six shots in the second half, with three going in the back of the net. FLC held an 11-6 edge on shots and 7-3 on goal. FLC held a slight 2-1 edge on corner kicks and Adams State (0-5-1, 0-1-1 RMAC) committed six fouls to five for FLC with no cautions.

After a shot on goal by Raul Pesacdor and a corner kick by Ty Lang, Gibson and Hazut each ripped shots that just went wide. Following a shot on goal by Adams State that was saved by Ventura Salcido, Gibson drilled a shot from about 20 yards out for his first goal of the season off an assist by Max Fuentes Carrera to push FLC to the 1-0 lead at the 26:29 mark.

Despite a couple more chances, it would remain 1-0 at halftime.

Twenty minutes into the second half, Hazut got loose inside the box and drilled home his second goal of the season off an assist by Ryan Lee for the 2-0 lead at the 65:41 mark.

The Skyhawks kept coming and over the final 10 minutes of the game netted a pair of goals. First, Lee got in front of the goalie in the box and was able to score towards the middle of the goal for a 3-0 lead at the 82:24 mark. It was Lee's third goal of the season as Nicolas Perez added the assist.

Just over a minute later, Rabiu went to the left side of the box and ripped a shot to the right end of the net for his first goal of the season at the 83:35 mark. Max Fuentes Carrera picked up his second assist of the day.

Hazut and Gibson paced the offense with three shots apiece. Lee and Rabiu tallied two shots each. Salcido picked up the shutout in making three saves.

Manolo Coley led Adams State with two shots. Jacob Faircloth started in goal for the Grizzlies and allowed two goals, while making two saves. Matthew Burcin also saw time over the final nine minutes and allowed two goals.

FLC improves to 2-0 in true road contests this year and the 1-0-1 start to the RMAC slate is the same mark the Skyhawks were at last year.

FLC returns home for a pair of games next week, first against MSU Denver on Friday at 3 p.m. and then on Sunday against Colorado Christian starting at noon.
