Lynne Andrew Accepts Job With NCAA

DURANGO, Colo. – Longtime Fort Lewis College athletic administrator Lynne Andrew accepted a new job at the NCAA as the Associate Director of Women's Basketball and will relocate to the NCAA headquarters in Indianapolis. Her last day at FLC will be June 7. Andrew's experience as a women's basketball student athlete, coach and administrator while also serving as the chair of the NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Committee from 2012-16 have prepared her for this career move.

Since arriving at Fort Lewis in October 2008, Andrew has worked almost every possible position in the athletic department. Originally hired to be the Compliance Coordinator, Andrew quickly took on other duties that included the athletics department budget, scholarships, facility scheduling, game management and served as the advisor for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). She was also responsible for preparing and submitting various NCAA and Department of Education reports on behalf of FLC and has served on numerous athletic committees.

Andrew was promoted to Associate Director of Athletics in 2012 and later was elevated to her current title of Senior Associate Director of Athletics in 2017. She also serves as the Senior Woman Administrator. Recently Andrew has been running the day to day operations of the athletic department until new Athletic Director Brandon Leimbach arrives on June 3.

Andrew received the 2012 Director of Athletics Appreciation Award at the Skyhawks Awards Banquet for the many duties she performs for Fort Lewis College and the love and passion she shows toward the FLC student-athletes. This past spring banquet, Andrew received another honor in being named as the MVP by the Men's and Women's Golf teams for the 2018-19 season.

Prior to her arrival at Fort Lewis in October 2008, Andrew was the head women's basketball coach at the University of Alaska Fairbanks for five years. Her coaching career stems over 17 seasons with stops at Idaho State, Weber State, North Dakota, and Montana State.

After a successful prep basketball career at North Park High School in Brantford, Ontario, Andrew earned an athletic scholarship to Lake Region Community College in Devils Lake, N.D. While at Lake Region, she earned National Junior College Athletic Association All-America honors. The school, now known as UND-Lake Region, inducted Andrew into its Athletics Hall of Fame in 1991.

In 1986, Andrew continued her collegiate career at Montana State. Proving she could compete at the NCAA Division I level, Andrew was named to the All-Big Sky Conference first team as a junior and senior. She helped lead her team to a 24-6 record in her senior year, which earned them a place in the Women's National Invitational Tournament. She was named to the WNIT All-Tournament Team and was later tabbed as one of the top 40 players in nation by being named a Kodak District 7 All-American. In 2002, Andrew was inducted into Montana State's Athletic Hall of Fame.

After playing professionally in Wolfenbuttel, Germany, for a season, Andrew returned to Montana State to earn her bachelor's degree in Physical Education/Health and later received her master's degree in Athletic Administration from Idaho State.

In June 2015, she was inducted into the Brantford (Canada) and Area Hall of Recognition which is located in the Wayne Gretzky Sports Center.  As an Honor Roll recipient in the Builders Category for basketball, she is amongst numerous athletes who have achieved prominence in their sport.
