DURANGO, Colorado — The Fort Lewis College Athletic Department is excited to announce its participation in Giving Tuesday, the national day of giving scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 1. This will be the Skyhawks second consecutive year of participating in the annual day of giving in support of FLC student-athletes.
FLC Athletics Hall of Famer and 1965 alumnus Chuck Lamb has tipped off the giving campaign, pledging to match each gift to the Skyhawks Club dollar for dollar up to $5,000, as well as dollar for dollar up to $5,000 for men's basketball.
Those interested in participating can make donations through the FLC Athletics Giving Tuesday page all day on Tuesday, Dec. 1 by clicking on the "Give Now" button. Gifts can be made directly to specific programs based on donor intent, to the Skyhawks Club general fund benefiting nearly 500 student-athletes spanning 14 NCAA intercollegiate sport programs, Cheerleading and Cycling, or to FLC's capital campaign for the new 11,000 square foot strength and conditioning center.
Created in 2012 as a simple way to encourage people to do good, Giving Tuesday is a global generosity giving movement which helps others through the gift of time or donations. Observed on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving and recognized with Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday kicks off the charitable season, which includes holiday and year-end giving.
FLC Athletics encourages all Skyhawks Club members, fans and alumni to make a gift on Giving Tuesday to help enhance the academic and athletic success for all FLC student-athletes.
By securing philanthropic funding for facilities, scholarships, and safeguarding the physical and mental wellness of our student-athletes, the Skyhawks Club ensures that our student-athletes have the necessary resources for success in the classroom, during competition and for a lifetime of achievement beyond collegiate athletics.
