Villavicencio named Second-Team All-NFFCC Special Teams

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Junior punter Hunter Villavicencio has been tabbed as one of Colorado's best as he has earned Second-Team All-National Football Foundation Colorado Chapter Special Teams honors, the organization announced Tuesday morning.

The National Football Foundation Colorado Chapter was charted in July of 1992 and is one of 120 chapters in 47 states that span the organization. The Colorado Chapter is the only chapter nationwide that selects collegiate players of the week and a collegiate All-State team which began in 2003. The chapter selects first and second-team All-State honors.

Villavicenio has doubled down on second-team honors this season after being named Second-Team All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference as a punter just a few weeks ago. The six-foot-three native of Fort Worth, Texas, made 64 punts for 2,695 yards and a 42.11 yards per punt average. In addition, Villavicencio has booted 15 punts over 50 yards, landed 14 inside of the 20, and owns the 8th and 10th longest punts in Division II at 76 and 75 yards, respectively.

The award is not only the first of Villavicenio's career but also the first by a Skyhawk since Donell Pleasant III (defensive back) and George Marpaung (defensive line) earned second-team nods back in 2018.

Colorado School of Mines' John Matocha, Blake Doud, and head coach Pete Sterbick swept the chapter's Offensive, Special teams, and Coach of the Year honors while Colorado State's Mohamed Kamara was named the Defensive Player of the Year.
