Football elevates Bible to special teams coordinator

DURANGO, Colo. – Fort Lewis College football head coach Johnny Cox announced the promotion of Emmanuel Jordan Bible to the program's special team's coordinator on Tuesday.

Bible wrapped up his second year with the Skyhawks in 2022, a season in which he served as an assistant coach, recruiting coordinator, and defensive backs position coach.

"We are very excited to announce Coach Bible as the new special team's coordinator," Cox said. "He brings experience, energy, and a great connection with the players that will help special teams excel."

Beginning his career with the Skyhawks in 2021, Bible joined the staff as the defensive line coach and academic coordinator. Prior to Fort Lewis, Bible spent five seasons as the defensive coordinator at Vista Peak Prep in Aurora, Colo., while completing his Master's degree in Sports Psychology with an emphasis on sport coaching from the University of Denver.

Bible also had coaching stops at Augustana College as a graduate assistant from 2014-15 and one season as the defensive backs coach at Western New England University in 2015.

Prior to coaching, Bible enjoyed a four-year career playing NCAA Division I football at the University of Northern Colorado from 2008-12. Bible saw action in 33 games at safety and capped off his career with Big Sky All-Conference honors in his senior season. Additionally, Bible graduated from UNC with three All-Academic honors and a degree in Criminal Law.

"It's been a blessing to have the opportunity to move up through the program over the last three years," Bible shared. "I've really found myself comfortable calling Durango home and this is another step towards that. I'm excited for what's to come and the opportunity to keep serving this program."

Fort Lewis will open its 2023 campaign on the road at William Jewell College on Saturday, Sept. 2. The Skyhawks and Cardinals will play at Liberty North High School in Liberty, Mo., due to stadium construction on the campus of William Jewell.
