Moore joins Skyhawks football as Wide Receivers Coach

Moore makes his return to Fort Lewis after a one-year stint in 2016.

DURANGO, Colo. – Donny Moore has joined the Fort Lewis College football staff, head coach Johnny Cox announced Wednesday afternoon. Moore rejoins the program as an assistant coach tasked with the oversight and development of the wide receivers.

"I have known Moore for several years," Coach Cox shared. "When we saw there was an opportunity to hire him, we jumped at it. Donny is a family man that operates with high character. He is a knowledgeable, outstanding worker, and our players have already gravitated to him and his personality."

Moore joins the Skyhawks once again after spending his past three seasons on the gridiron with the Mustangs at Western New Mexico University, a member of the highly competitive Lone Star Conference. Last season the Mustangs garnered a 6-5 overall record with a 5-4 mark in conference play en route to a fifth-place finish in the LSC.

While with the Mustangs Moore was charged with the development and implementation of weekly practice and game plans, position group development, also served as video coordinator, and assisted in the program's high-tempo offensive scheme.

While recruiting, Moore traveled to add Mustangs from Arizona, Colorado, Texas, and a variety of Junior Colleges. Most notably, Moore oversaw the development of Reggie Colson III, a Don Hansen Division II All-American Honorable Mention, and Joshua Powell, a Lone Star Freshman of the Year award winner.

Moore previously had a one-year stint with the Skyhawks as a tight ends coach in 2016 before spending the following year at Scottsdale Community College.

After graduating with his Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Adams State University in 2014, Moore completed his Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from Western New Mexico in 2020.
