No. 3 Fort Lewis to meet Adams State in Alamosa, Western Colorado in Durango

DURANGO, Colo. – Following a Friday night victory over Colorado State University Pueblo (9-13, 5-11 RMAC), the third-ranked Fort Lewis men's basketball team is set for a quick turnaround as the Skyhawks head down Route 160 for a rivalry matchup at Adams State (8-14, 6-10 RMAC) on Tuesday night before returning to Whalen Gymnasium to host Western Colorado (8-14, 5-11 RMAC) on Saturday night for its annual Pink Game.

Last Time Out
Fort Lewis, who had 10 players register 17 or more minutes on Friday, went into Massari Arena and dominated the ThunderWolves en route to an 86-68 victory and season-sweep over The Pack. FLC shot 50.0 percent (33-66) from the floor, 42.9 percent (9-21) from deep, and outrebounded CSUP 50-34 while pulling down 15 offensive rebounds for 18 second-chance points. Five finished in double-figure scoring for FLC including Malik Whitaker (14), Obi Agbim (12), Tristan Hurdle (12), Jhei-R Jones (10), and Junior Garbrah (10).
 
Scouting the Grizzlies
Adams State is rolling as of late after two big road wins over New Mexico Highlands (8-13, 5-11 RMAC) 92-85 and a narrow 91-90 victory over CSU Pueblo last Saturday on an Austin Fadal layup down the lane with six seconds remaining. Fort Lewis and Adams State met back on Dec. 5 when the Skyhawks dealt the Grizzlies a 100-80 loss at home to move to 75-57 all-time against ASU.
 
Destan Williams continues to lead the Grizzlies with 16.5 points per game on the back of a 51.9 percent field goal percentage while also averaging 3.7 assists, 2.1 steals, and 2.8 rebounds per game. Fadal (15.4) is the only other player to average double-figure scoring. As a unit, ASU ranks third in offense (79.7) and fifteenth in defense (85.1) in the RMAC.
 
Scouting the Mountaineers
Western Colorado and Fort Lewis met in Gunnison, Colo., back on Dec. 2, when FLC put on arguably its best defensive performance of the year and limited WCU to 55 points while scoring 85 on the offensive end to move to 86-40 all-time against the Mountaineers.
 
Last week, the Mountaineers hosted Chadron State (11-11, 8-8 RMAC) and Colorado Christian (8-13, 5-11 RMAC) and dealt its invaders a pair of 68-61 and 80-78 losses, respectively. Kade Juelfs was the only WCU player to register 10 or more points with 14 against the Eagles before capping off the weekend with a career-best 34-point outing on 8-13 (61.5 percent) shooting including 5-8 (62.5 percent) from deep and 13-15 at the charity stripe.
 
Final Home Weekend Ahead
Fort Lewis has its final two regular season home games slated for next week as the Skyhawks welcome Black Hills State (11-11, 9-7 RMAC) for Academic Recognition night on Friday, Feb. 23, and South Dakota Mines (9-13, 7-9 RMAC) for Senior Night on Saturday, Feb. 24. Tip-offs are scheduled for 7:00 and 6:00 p.m.
