Skyhawks hold in third and eighth through second round of RMAC Championships

BOULDER CITY, Nev. – The Fort Lewis men's golf team climbed into a tie for third place and the women's squad dropped into ninth after both teams second round through the Boulder Creek Golf Club Monday afternoon in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships.
 
The men, aided by a one-under finish (71) from Jordan Jennings, managed to end the afternoon four strokes under par (294) and force a three-way tie with Colorado School of Mines and CSU Pueblo. The three teams stand at 572 overall heading into the final round of competition tomorrow.
 
As for the women, the Skyhawks finished the day in a two-way tie with South Dakota Mines after carding a 328 (+40) team score to stand at 637 (+61) alongside the Hardrockers.
 
Ronald Kildall III remains the front-runner for FLC after the junior from Everett, Wash., carded a three-over finish (75) on the back of two birdies to help offset a single bogey and a pair of double bogeys. Kildall III sits in a tie for sixth with Jennings closely behind in a tie for 12th, Henry Poston in a tie for 19th(144, E), and both Jake Chesler and Jackson Rottschafer in a tie for 22nd with identical 148s (+4).
 
Molly Schwartz maintained her lead among Skyhawks with the five-foot-five senior carding an eight-over 80 to notch a three-way tie for 19th. Isabel Bustillos stands behind Schwartz in a tie for 28th (158, +14), Vivianna Holguin in a tie for 31st (159, +15), Kendal Gutierrez in a tie for 39th (166, +22), and Sabrina Ladd in a tie for 41st (167, +23).
 
Colorado Christian paces the men's team leaderboard as the No. 6-ranked Cougars reside 27 strokes below par at 549 with a seven-stroke lead over Colorado Mesa (556, -20). The Cougars' own Xavier Bighaus leads the individual scoreboard with a 10-under mark of 134.
 
CSU Pueblo holds a 10-stroke lead on the women's team leaderboard with a 19-over team score of 595 guided by The Pack's own Freya Constable who leads the individual scoreboard as the only golfer to finish at par (144) through round two.
 
Final Round On Deck
The Skyhawks will make one final trip through Boulder Creek tomorrow morning with the men teeing off at 8:00 a.m. followed by the women at 8:30 a.m.
