DURANGO, Colo. – Junior Renee Junna got things started with her first goal as a Skyhawks, and two others added goals to fuel a 3-1 win for the Fort Lewis College women's soccer team in its home opener over CSU Pueblo.

The Skyhawks outshot the Pack 19-9 on the night, including a 9-2 edge in shots on goal. Fort Lewis benefited from nine set pieces and did not allow CSU Pueblo a corner kick chance. The teams combined for 11 fouls, and there was one yellow card given.

In addition to Junna's goal, senior Sabrina Reyes and sophomore Jenna Salazar notched goal to bring the total to three on the night. It was Reyes' first goal of the season and Salazar's second in as many games. Fifth-year Elizabeth David and senior Danielle Gonzales were credited with assists. Six Skyhawks played the full 90 minutes. As usual, the fifth-year goalkeeping duo of Katlyn Rosenbaum and Riley Bravin combined for the win.

The Pack's leading scored, Sydney Lasater, was the first to fire off a shot in the match with an attempt the sailed high. Senior Gabi Meraz-Fishbein countered with a shot on goal in the seventh minute that resulted in the match's first save. Rosebaum earned a save in the 12th minute, but the scoreless streak ended just one minute later. A throw-in from Lorena Vargas-Galvan found Lasater who evaded her defender and sent a shot top-right from 35 yards out to make it 1-0 CSU Pueblo.

Junna found the equalizer a few minutes later when she crashed in from midfield and fought off a pair of defenders for possession. The junior found space a took a dropping shot from 25 yards out that found just enough space below the crossbar and above the fingers of the opposing keeper to knot the match. The Pack responded with four shots, all off target, before Fort Lewis found the go-ahead for in the 25th minute. Gonzales found an open Salazar on a throw in, and Salazar took a volley off of one bounce for a deep shot that found space for a 2-1 lead.

Three minutes later Reyes would score to make it a 3-1 advantage. The play developed through Elizabeth David who provided service from the team's defensive half to an unchecked Reyes. The senior fired a skipping shot from deep, inside the left post, and out of the keeper's reach for the score.

The second half saw an early shot on goal from Gonzales and significant defensive pressure from Fort Lewis. The Pack had an early shot in the 53rd minute and were held without a shot for the remainder of the half. Meanwhile, the Skyhawks added three shots on goal, two from Gonzales, and one from sophomore Ashlyn Salas, as the match ended in a 3-1 final. The Skyhawks outshot the Pack 10-8 in the first half and 9-1 in the second.
