DURANGO, Colo. – Skyhawks women's soccer is back on Dirks Field this week to host No. 22 Colorado Mesa University on Friday, followed by a noon match on Sunday against Westminster University.

Last Time Out
Skyhawks women's soccer faced a heartbreaking road trip last week with a pair of 1-0 losses to No. 13 UCCS and No. 9 Colorado School of Mines. In the loss to the Mountain Lions, The Skyhawks held a 12-6 advantage in shots for the match while the teams were even with four shots on goal apiece. There were just four corner kicks in the match, and the teams combined for 16 fouls and three yellow cards.

Seven individuals played full-time for Fort Lewis compared to six for UCCS. Senior Rozlin Gomez led the team with three shots, one of which was on target. Juniors Amber Otts and Jenna Salazar, as well as redshirt freshman Kiana Jamerson accounted for the three additional shots on goal. Freshman goalkeeper Trinity Lujan collected two saves in the effort.

The loss to the Orediggers was gutting after a penalty kick provided the game-winner with just 30 seconds remaining in the match. Fort Lewis held a 17-11 advantage in shots with a 7-2 edge in shots on goal. Mines earned seven corner kicks compared to five for Fort Lewis. The Skyhawks were whistled for 11 fouls and drew a pair of yellow cards.

Otts tied for the team lead with three shots and two shots on goal while playing 90 minutes. Salazar added two shots on goal, and three additional players placed shots on target. Lujan had a quality match with several important reads despite not registering a save.

The Mavericks are enjoying another successful season with a 6-2 mark and a 2-0 record in conference play. Mesa is 5-0 at home but 1-2 on the road with losses to Azusa Pacific and Wyoming. Last week, Mesa came away with home wins over Colorado Christian (1-0) and MSU Denver (2-0).

The team is averaging 1.88 goals per game and 13.9 shots per game compared to just .50 goals per game from the opposition. The Mavericks have compiled 14 assists, 44 corners, 71 fouls, and five yellow cards.

The last time that Fort Lewis faced off against Colorado Mesa was in the quarterfinal of the RMAC Tournament last season. The Skyhawks advanced in an 8-7 penalty kick shootout which will be a match that fans recall for many years to come.

Scouting Westminster University
The Griffins are 3-0-3 this season with scoreless ties in their RMAC matches last week against MSU Denver and Colorado Christian. Westminster was previously ranked and receiving votes in the national poll but dropped out following the weekend results.

The team averages 13.5 shots per game compared to 7.2 from its opponents. The Griffins have one assist, 45 fouls, 20 corners, and zero cards this season.

Addie McCallister leads the team with two goals through six games. Addison Coon and Kara Dickey are the only other goal scorers with one goal each. Gracie East and Coon lead the team in minute played while anchoring the defense. Marin Mackenzie has played all but 38 minutes in goal with zero goals allowed and 16 saves.

Fort Lewis and Westminster played to a 1-1 draw in last year's meeting thanks to a pair of penalty kicks in the second half. It was a physical match with 27 fouls and four cards throughout.
