Volleyball ends season in RMAC Quarterfinal, falls in four to (RV) UCCS

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Skyhawks volleyball found life in the third set but ultimately dropped a four-set match to (RV) UCCS in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament Quarterfinal to wrap up the 2025 season.

Fort Lewis was led by freshman Alyx Daugherty who put up 29 digs—her ninth match of the season with 20 or more digs. Freshman Arianna Reyna followed with 17 digs to go along with 22 assists and a match-high four service aces. Freshman Cambria Freymuth added a double-double with 10 kills and 10 digs. Offensively, the team was led by freshman Caroline Munson's 14 kills (.345), followed by junior Jordan DeJesus at 10 kills.

The Skyhawks chipped away at an early hole, pulling within four at 14-10 after a kill from Freymuth. UCCS extended the lead late in the set, but a kill by Munson made it 22-18. Munson and Freymuth added kills in the final points before a service error gave the Mountain Lions the opener.

UCCS held control of the second set from start to finish, eventually closing it out at 25-12 following an attacking error. Fort Lewis hit .021 in set two compared to a .302 efficiency for UCCS.

The third set featured early tied scores before back-to-back aces by Reyna tied things at 10-10. The Skyhawks enjoyed a 6-0 scoring run to bring on a Mountain Lion timeout with the score at 18-14, and Fort Lewis scored the next two out of the break to reach 20 points. The Skyhawks earned the win thanks to kills from four players to send to match to a fourth set.

There were three tied scores early in the fourth set before UCCS found separation at 7-4. Averie Dembickie and Munson combined for a block to stop the run, but the Mountain Lions responded to take a 15-8 lead at the media break. The teams exchanged points out of the break with Fort Lewis pulling within five points off a Munson kill. UCCS tallied a kill off a setter dump and ended the match with a block in the middle to advance to the Semifinal round.
