Fort Lewis takes a set from No. 11 MSU Denver, falls in four

DURANGO, Colo. – Skyhawks volleyball won the opening set over No. 11 MSU Denver, snapping the Roadrunners' 39-set winning streak, but ultimately fell in four sets inside of Whalen Gymnasium.

Fort Lewis fell to 14-8 overall and 8-3 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play while MSU Denver improved to 20-3, 10-1 RMAC.

The Skyhawks hit .124 for the match compared to a .288 clip for the Roadrunners. Fort Lewis was superior from the service line with seven aces compared to three for MSU Denver.

Junior Jordan DeJesus led the team with 11 kills, followed by junior Alina Nunez with 10 kills on 30 swings (.267). Freshman Alyx Daughterty led all players with 18 digs to go along with four assists. Freshman Arianna Reyna dished out 17 assists, followed by sophomore Addie Garn with 16.

Fort Lewis (14-8, 8-3 RMAC) will face (RV) UCCS tomorrow for a 4:00 PM first serve. The Skyhawks are set to honor their four graduating seniors, Ella Butler, Ryli Kalahiki, Chloe Ruhl, and Ivy Schoditsch prior to first serve.
