Cagan Campbell Named Assistant Athletic Director for Game Environment

DURANGO, Colo. – The Fort Lewis College Department of Athletics is proud to announce the addition of Cagan Campbell to its administrative staff as the new Assistant Athletic Director for Game Environment.

Campbell will officially begin his role with the Skyhawks on June 2.

"I'm truly excited for this opportunity—working in athletic administration has been a lifelong dream," said Campbell. "Growing up surrounded by sports, I quickly developed a deep passion for athletics and knew early on that I wanted to pursue this field professionally. I'm incredibly grateful to Travis Whipple and the entire FLC hiring committee for believing in me and allowing me to become a part of Skyhawks Athletics."

Campbell most recently served as the Coordinator for Facilities at Samford University's Campus Recreation department, where he played a key role in opening an $85 million recreational facility. His responsibilities included overseeing indoor and outdoor recreational spaces, supervising the Esports area, and managing a team of approximately 100 student employees, including hiring, training, and performance evaluation.

Prior to that, Campbell gained experience in basketball and football game operations, and also served as the Recreation Facility Supervisor at Samford. He earned his undergraduate degree in Sociology from Wofford College in 2022, and recently completed his Master's in Studies in Law with a concentration in Higher Education and Compliance from Samford University's Cumberland School of Law in 2024.

A former NCAA Division I student-athlete, Campbell competed in both football and track at Wofford College. He played as a cornerback for the football team and earned All-Conference honors in sprints for the track team.
