Four score in (RV) Skyhawks' third shutout of the season

Skyhawks women's soccer earned a 5-0 win on Thursday--most goals scored in a match since 2023

DURANGO, Colo. – The (RV) Fort Lewis College women's soccer team exploded for five goals from four different players—including career firsts from Kiana Jamerson and Isla Witham—in a 5-0 rout of Eastern New Mexico on a rainy evening at Dirks Field.

The win pushed the Skyhawks to 2-0-1 on the season while the Greyhounds slipped to 0-2-0.

Fort Lewis was in control offensively, firing off 24 shots with 13 on frame. The five-goal outburst marked the program's highest scoring output since a 6-0 victory over New Mexico Highlands in 2023. Defensively, the Skyhawks limited Eastern New Mexico to just eight shots—five on target—while securing their third shutout of the year.

Junior Abila Tapia led the charge with two goals, notching the first multi-goal game of her career. Senior Anna Tucker opened the scoring with her first goal of the season, while Witham and Jamerson capped the night's tally. Senior Rozlin Gomez had a standout performance with two assists in 59 minutes of play. Amber Otts and freshman Addyson Carpentier also added assists. In goal, freshman Trinity Lujan played 74 minutes with five saves before giving way to fellow freshman Lilliana Brinkmeier, who closed out the final 16 minutes.

The Skyhawks settled into the slick conditions quickly, generating early looks from Jenna Salazar and Otts. Tucker broke through in the 26th minute after Carpentier fed a pass into traffic at the top of the box. A Greyhound defender misplayed the clearance, and Tucker pounced, slotting a low shot inside the right post.

Tapia doubled the lead in the 39th minute after being taken down inside the box on a one-on-one chance. She calmly buried the penalty kick to the keeper's left, sending Fort Lewis into halftime up 2-0.

Eastern New Mexico tested Lujan with the first shot on frame of the second half, but the freshman keeper was equal to the task in the 48th minute. Just minutes later, Tapia struck again, taking a feed from Otts along the sideline and lofting a shot from distance that sailed over the keeper's hands for a 3-0 cushion.

Jamerson provided the highlight moment in the 61st minute, only two minutes after subbing into the match. Gomez threaded a perfect through ball into the box, where Jamerson buried her first collegiate touch low into the left corner for a 4-0 lead.

The final goal came in the 67th minute when Gomez chipped a pass into space for Witham, who turned quickly through two defenders and fired a shot high into the right corner for her first career score. Fort Lewis nearly added more late, with redshirt freshmen Mia Duncan and Kailin Gudewicz both narrowly missing on strong opportunities.

The Skyhawks (2-0-1) return to action Saturday evening, hosting Lubbock Christian University (2-1-0) at 7:00 p.m. on Dirks Field. The Chaps are coming off a 1-0 victory over Adams State earlier this week.
