Spence, Carpentier propel Skyhawks past CSU Pueblo in 2-0 shutout

DURANGO, Colo. – Behind goals from senior Ann Spence and junior Addyson Carpentier, the Fort Lewis College women's soccer team cruised to a 2-0 shutout victory over Colorado State University Pueblo on Friday evening at Dirks Field. The Skyhawks controlled the pace from start to finish, outshooting the Pack 19-2 to secure their eighth victory of the season.

Fort Lewis improved to 8-2-2 overall and 5-2-0 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play, while CSU Pueblo slipped to 3-7-2 and 1-4-1 in league action.

The Skyhawks were relentless on the offensive end, holding a 19-2 advantage in shots, including a 6-1 edge in shots on goal. Fort Lewis also earned five corner kicks to CSU Pueblo's one while limiting the visitors to just one shot in each half.

Spence provided the breakthrough in the 21st minute, netting her second goal of the season on a beautifully placed strike from outside the box. Senior Kiana Jamerson initiated the scoring opportunity with service from the byline toward the top-right corner of the penalty area. Spence met the pass with a one-touch effort from approximately 20 yards out, sending a slightly arcing shot into the upper-left corner to give the Skyhawks a 1-0 advantage.

Fort Lewis maintained its offensive pressure throughout the opening half, firing 10 shots while holding the Pack to just one attempt. The Skyhawks carried their one-goal advantage into the break.

The home squad wasted little time doubling its lead after halftime, capitalizing on a set piece in the 48th minute. Senior Jenna Salazar delivered an in-swinging corner kick into the heart of the box, where Carpentier rose to meet the service and directed a header into the net from six yards out. The goal marked Carpentier's third of the season and gave Fort Lewis a commanding 2-0 advantage.

The Skyhawks continued to control possession and generate opportunities throughout the final 45 minutes, adding nine shots and four corner kicks while preventing CSU Pueblo from mounting a comeback.

Salazar finished with five shots and an assist, while sophomore Mason Ricker led all players with six shot attempts. Junior Mia Duncan added three shots, including two on frame, as Fort Lewis received offensive contributions throughout its lineup.

Defensively, Fort Lewis was equally impressive. Senior Amber Otts anchored the back line with a full 90-minute performance alongside Carpentier, while Kailin Gudewicz and Lucy Bernino helped limit the Pack to just two shots. Sophomore goalkeeper Trinity Lujan needed just one save to preserve the clean sheet, playing all 90 minutes between the posts.
