Short-handed Skyhawks drop 2-0 decision to No. 7 ThunderWolves

Fort Lewis suffers sixth-straight loss to CSU Pueblo

PUEBLO, Colo. – The Fort Lewis men's soccer team was felled for the second time in as many matches against a top-25 opponent on Sunday afternoon in Pueblo as the No. 14-ranked Skyhawks, down to 10 men for the final 47 minutes of action, were defeated 2-0 by No. 7 Colorado State University Pueblo on the ThunderWolves home pitch.

Fort Lewis (7-4-2, 4-2 RMAC) went into halftime tied on the road against an undefeated CSU Pueblo (10-0-2, 4-0-2 RMAC) side, after swiftly falling to ten men after Raul Baptista Filipe received back-to-back cautions at the 42nd and 43rd minutes.

The man deficit was all the ThunderWolves needed to pounce, and the home side locked down defensively and limited the Skyhawks to just five shots, one on-frame, and five corner kicks. Meanwhile, CSU Pueblo fired 13 shots, including six on-goal, and four corner kicks. The Pack also committed 12 fouls to Fort Lewis' seven, and were called offsides five times.

Both sides held the deadlock into the 51st minute, when Silvio Termini dispossessed the Skyhawks goalkeeper at the top of the box, creating an open-net opportunity for Juan Pablo Orozco Soto, who netted his fifth of the season for the 1-0 lead. Don Carlo Rank bolstered the advantage in the 82nd minute, taking possession near the byline to tuck a glancing ball off the turf and just inside the far post.

Senior Fred Reiter came on for the final 38 minutes and made a game-high three saves while conceding once. Senior Lucas Martin surrendered one goal and made one save. Fabrizio Aguilera led the Skyhawks with a game-high three shots and Fort Lewis' lone shot on-goal.
