ALAMEDA, Calif. – Fort Lewis sophomore Peyton Gibby went three-over-par in her second trip around Corica Park Golf Course to lead the Skyhawks women's golf squad to a 25-stroke improvement and a score of 639 (+63), capturing a tie for 18th overall in the team's first spring appearance at the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout.

Fort Lewis turned in a 307 (+19) as a team in round two, marking a 25-stroke improvement from round one's 332 (+44), good for the single-best improvement by any team at the tournament. The Skyhawks' 639 overall was good enough to force a tie for 18th with Northwest Nazarene University. Both squads finished five strokes back from Chico State University, who finished at 634 (+58).

Gibby managed to shave off six strokes from her round score, carding a 75 (+3) in round two with a birdie on hole five, alongside 13 pars, including a one-over 37 on the back nine, to jump 18 spots on the leaderboard and tie for 56th as an individual. Senior Dimery Plewe made the largest adjustment among Skyhawks, shooting an even-par 72 in round two with a dominant six birdies throughout the day and a four-birdie, one-under 35 on the back nine. Plewe climbed 27 spots on the leaderboard, which was the third-largest jump by any player in the tournament, to tie for 71st on the strength of a 161 (+17).

Seattle Pacific University's Zoe Garcia, who held a three-way split for first-place after round one, shot her second consecutive 68 (-4) to force a two-way tie with California State University San Marcos' Avery Foster, who improved from a 69 (-3) in round one to a tournament-best 67 (-5) in round two, for individual medalist honors on a 136 (-8) total. The pair led the next closest player by two strokes, with nine individuals among the tournament's 102 overall finishers finishing below par.

The No. 17-ranked Cougars from Cal State San Marcos won the tournament outright on a dominant 10-stroke lead, shooting a combined score of 563 (-13) with rounds of 283 (-5) and 280 (-8). Only Point Loma Nazarene University managed to match the Cougars with a below-par score, shooting a 573 (-3) for second place.

Rounding out Fort Lewis' four scoring players were freshman Kathryn Moores and junior Isabel Bustillos. Moores shaved off six strokes from round one, shooting a 78 (+6) with a pair of birdies in her pocket to tie for 74th on a 162 (+18). Bustillos found a pair of birdies in her second round, aiding her to a tie for 79th, one stroke back from Moores with a 163 (+19). Ellie White was the final Skyhawk to travel, with the freshman shooting a 175 (+31) to tie for 99th.
