White, Plewe go low as Fort Lewis wraps up Patriot Invitational

CARMEL, Calif. – The Fort Lewis women's golf team captured a 12th-place finish at the Patriot Invitational on Tuesday afternoon, carding a 321 (+37) to score a 985 (+133) overall while battling six top 25-ranked programs at The Quail Golf Club.
 
Fort Lewis made a 17-stroke improvement from round two to three across The Quail's 5,875-yard par 71 course, the second-best improvement among the 12 teams, posting a tournament-low 321 on the strength of two Skyhawks shooting below 80 in Dimery Plewe and Ellie White. FLC trailed 11th-place Ferris State University's 939 (+87) by 46 strokes.
 
No. 2 nationally ranked Dallas Baptist University dominated the field, winning team medalist honors for the sixth time this season on an 879 (+27) with a 16-stroke lead. DBU junior Madison Ude, who was tied for the individual lead after the first two rounds, stayed true, carding a 73 (+2) to capture individual medalist honors with a two-stroke lead and an overall total of 216 (+3).
 
The Skyhawks combined for seven birdies and 35 pars, paced by White's team-low 78 (+7) backed by three birdies and an eagle on hole six's 332-yard par four. Plewe came up just behind White with one birdie en route to a 79 (+8). Plewe led Fort Lewis with a T-49 finish on a 237 (+24). In total, the Skyhawks averaged scores of 3.75 on par threes, 4.84 on par fours, and 5.48 on par fives with 17 total birdies and 104 pars.
 
White and the rest of the squad finished in proximity of one another, including White in T-58 on a 247 (+34), Peyton Gibby in T-60 with a 249 (+36), Isabel Bustillos in T-63 on a 252 (+39), and Kathryn Moores 66th on a 279 (+66)

Fort Lewis will spend the next two weeks at home in Durango before returning to competition on Friday and Saturday, Apr. 3-4, with the Ruidoso Junior Golf Association Palm Valley Classic at Palm Valley Golf Club in Goodyear, Ariz.
