Andrews claims top 10 finish at NCAA West South-Central Regional

5/9/2026 8:09:00 PM

STOCKTON, Calif. – Fort Lewis College men's golf's redshirt junior Traejan Andrews fired a three-round one-under-par 215 on Saturday evening en route to capturing T-10 as an individual as the Skyhawks' lone representative at the NCAA West South-Central Regional Saturday evening at The Reserve at Spanos Park.

Andrews' seventh top 15 finish of the season marked a 77-position improvement compared to last season's T-84 finish at the NCAA regional over at Victoria Club in Riverside, Calif., on the back of his four-over 220. Additionally, his 72 (E), 71 (-1), and 72 (E) at the event marked his fourteenth, fifteenth, and sixteenth rounds of the campaign at or below par for the course.

The front nine saw Andrews record a pair of birdies on the 554-yard par-five hole two and 540-yard par-five hole six, but a double bogey at the 182-yard par-three hole four had the 122nd-ranked player even with par and at 36 heading out through the front nine.

On his way in down the back nine stretch, Andrews tripped up with three bogeys across his first four holes, but managed to take advantage of a birdie on the short 519-yard par-five hole 11. He then capped his round with three pars and a pair of birdies on the 535-yard par-five hole 16 and 399-yard par-four hole 18.

In total, Andrews capped the tournament with 14 birdies and 30 pars, scoring averages of 3.67 on par threes, 4.0 on par fours, and, most importantly to his success, a tournament second-best 4.25 on par fives, playing the long holes nine strokes under par.

No. 26-ranked Western Washington University won the regional team title, turning in an 856 (-9) en route to the NCAA championships in two weeks. It was the Vikings' own junior and No. 52 Conrad Brown who brought home individual medalist honors, carding a 206 (-10) to hold off the field by one stroke.

The Reserve at Spanos Park, a 7,082-yard, par-72 links-style championship course, played to an average of nearly two strokes over par for the tournament, with the field boasting an average score of 73.78. While all four par fives played under par, all four par threes, as well as seven par fours, all played above par.
