Men’s golf picked sixth on RMAC Preseason Coaches’ Poll

DURANGO, Colo. – The Fort Lewis College men's golf team has been voted sixth in the 2026-27 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll.
 
Capturing 11 points, the Skyhawks edge seventh-place South Dakota Mines (7 pts). Colorado Mesa University was picked to defend its title, capturing five of seven first-place votes in addition to a third-place vote for 34 total points. Colorado State University Pueblo (28 pts) was picked second, followed by Colorado Christian University (26 pts) and Colorado School of Mines (26 pts) in third, and Westminster University (15 pts) in fifth.
 
Fort Lewis took fifth place at the 2025-26 RMAC Men's Golf Championships, posting a team score of 716 (-4) through the abbreviated 54-hole event. Sophomore Chase Rogers notched the highest individual finish among returning Skyhawks, capturing sole possession of 14th after turning in an even-par 180.
 
This year, the Skyhawks see the return of senior Benjamin Harding and sophomores Connor Burton and Dallin Stephens. Fort Lewis' newest incoming classes include freshman Mateo Berastegui, Anderson Helmer, Johnathon Smith, and Preston Ross, as well as junior transfer Talan Gover, who came to Durango from the University of Northern Colorado.
 
The Skyhawks will open the 2026-27 campaign with its second-straight appearance at the Travis Roy Memorial Invitational up north at The Powder Horn Golf Club in Sheridan, Wyo., on Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 14-15.
