FLC Cycling dominates Squawker Weekend

DURANGO, Colo. – Fort Lewis College Cycling put together a dominant weekend of racing on its home trails at the 2026 Squawker, with Skyhawks filling the front of the results across endurance and gravity events.
 

Skyhawks sweep top two in Men's Pro/1 XCC

The weekend got off to a fast start in the Squawker XCC, where Fort Lewis riders took control of the Men's Pro/1 field.

Toby Hassett led the Skyhawks to victory, completing the six-lap race in 20:49. Teammate Landen Stovall followed just three seconds behind in 20:52 to give Fort Lewis the top two spots.

Dane Grey added another top-five result, crossing the line fifth in 21:08. Carson Beard placed 10th and Owen Deale followed in 11th as more than 20 Skyhawks completed the Men's Pro/1 race.

Fort Lewis also stacked the front of the Men's 1/2 field. Abram Fields finished runner-up, followed by Cooper Mangum in third and Truman Wallace in fourth. Finnegan Bolan placed sixth, while Henry Pratt and Colter Griffis also earned top-10 finishes.
 

Women show depth in XCC

The Skyhawks were well represented in the Women's Pro/1 field, led by Maiya Blanchard in ninth. Aleena Furniss followed in 12th and Katja Opfer placed 13th. Chapman, Hardie, Haag, Brock, Appel, Roberts and Hamilton each finished inside the top 26.

Fort Lewis claimed the top two positions in Women's 2/3, with Oona Nelson winning in 17:20 and Charlotte Lehmann taking second in 17:47. Simone Piccolo-Brown, Mia Ryder, Nora Bostrom and Tilly Dodd added to a strong Skyhawks presence in the field.
 

Skyhawks take over DHI podium

Fort Lewis continued its success in the Squawker DHI, highlighted by seven top-10 finishes in Men's Pro/1.

Finn McDermott led the charge, winning the two-run competition with a combined time of 5:36.67. Travis Boucher finished third in 5:48.89, followed by Alec Balabanis in fourth, Caleb Haack in fifth, Owen Deale in sixth and Sebastian Farrell in seventh. Wyatt Colville and Aidan Bistyga also landed inside the top 10.

Tyler Swearengin, Logan Moxey and Boden Whittick added top-20 finishes for Fort Lewis.

The Skyhawks went 1-2 in Men 2, with Toby Hassett earning his second victory of the weekend in 5:55.72. Carter Southcotte finished runner-up in 5:57.85, while Dylan Timmerman, Quentin DeLuca and Adam Schrad also placed inside the top 10.

In Men 3, Dillon Burns finished third, followed by Finnegan Bolan in fifth and Nate Lowe in sixth. Scotty Hassett rounded out the Skyhawks' top-10 finishers in ninth.
 

Fort Lewis women deliver in DHI

The Fort Lewis women were equally impressive on the downhill course, occupying five of the top six positions in Women Pro/1.

Hayden Bevington earned the win, edging teammate Oona Nelson by just 0.63 seconds. Abigail Pruyn followed in fourth, Rivers Klopson finished fifth and Adia Annibella took sixth.

In Women 2/3, Rowan Pierson finished ninth and Adeline Hamilton followed in 10th. Caroline Haag placed 14th, while Willa Rabinowitz also completed the competition.
 

Home weekend highlights Skyhawks' depth

From the short, explosive efforts of XCC to the speed and precision of downhill, Fort Lewis displayed its depth throughout its home weekend with wins, podium finishes and top-10 performances across numerous categories.

"This is always an exciting weekend of racing on our home turf, and to bring away so many top-step wins is the cherry on top!" said head coach Brittany Cowan.

The Squawker marked another strong weekend for the Skyhawks as they continue building toward the championship portion of the collegiate mountain bike season.
