Why come to Skyhawk Basketball Camps?
* Weather - Beautiful Durango climate includes warm days, cool nights, no humidity, and plenty of sunshine.
* Facilities - Six full courts with air conditioning - three in the four-year-old Student Life Center and three in the newly renovated Fort Lewis College Gymnasium. This allows for a wonderful and safe teaching environment that also includes a swimming pool and training room.
* Team Building - Rafting, rope courses, and outdoor adventures can be arranged in conjuction with the camp.
* Friends & Fun - The camp gives you an opportunity to meet many different people as well as receiving great instruction from our camp staff.
* Funds - Monies generated will allow the men’s basketball coaches to recruit and maintain the best student-athletes in the area through the use of scholarships.
INDIVIDUAL CAMP INFORMATION
Continuing the tradition of Fort Lewis College camps of the past, we pledge to provide the best individual instruction available in the Four Corners and Rocky Mountain Region. We will include master teachers for both offensive and defensive basketball fundamentals along with enthusiastic coaches from the high school and junior high school ranks. Other points of emphasis will include camp lectures on education, goal setting, discipline and teamwork.
Competition will include 5-on-5, 3-on-3, 1-on-1, three-point shooting and free throw shooting. All contests will be broken down by age and ability. The swimming pool will be available for campers.
Boarders will be housed and fed on the Fort Lewis College campus in Durango, known for its extraordinary beauty and great climate. This camp is intense for the serious player who truly wants to get better!
The camp will be an all day affair, starting at 9 AM and finishing anywhere between 8 and 10 PM. The camp will begin around noon on Monday and will end approximately at noon on Thursday. Further details will be included in the confirmation letter.
TEAM CAMP INFORMATION
The team camps are open to high school teams of any competition level, including varsity teams, junior varsity teams, etc. For camp play, teams will be placed in their appropriate competition level and will play a minimum of seven games. Teams have the option of staying in the dorms on campus.
Team camps will also include instructional lecture sessions provided by the staff. Some of the lecture topics include education, goal setting, discipline and teamwork. Other contests will include three-point shooting, free throw shooting, and an all-star game.
Please make reservations as soon as possible because camp space is limited. Teams can be taken after the deadline, however, a $25 late fee will be added.
If you are planning on staying in the dorms during camp, the cost is $15 per night, per person. Please contact the coaches and ask about this option.
DEPOSITS
To reserve space, deposits are required for all camps. For the individual camps, a $45 non-refundable deposit must accompany all applications. For team camps, the team must pay a $100 non-refundable deposit.
INSURANCE
Campers must have their own health insurance. Please complete the insurance form in this brochure. NO CAMPERS WILL BE ADMITTED TO CAMP WITHOUT INSURANCE COVERAGE!
CONFIRMATION - INDIVIDUAL CAMP
A confirmation letter will be sent to you once we receive your deposit. This letter will tell you what to bring, when and where to report, and answer other questions you may have.
TEACHING EMPHASIS FOR ALL CAMPS
FUNDAMENTALS · Shooting, passing, ball handling, defense, and rebounding.
POSITION PLAY · Learn to play different positions, including point guard, wing and post.
GAMES · Learn to play 5-on-5, 3-on-3 and play situational games.
1-ON-1 · Develop 1-on-1 skills that allow you to break down your opponent.
HOW TO PRACTICE · Drills that will pay dividends for years to come.
