Alyssa Johnson enters her fourth season with the Skyhawks as a student volunteer assistant coach in the fall of 2025. Johnson joined the Fort Lewis staff in the fall of 2022 after graduating from Vista Peak Preparatory, where she played tackle football for all four years as an offensive lineman, defensive lineman, and long snapper.Â

During her last season at Vista Peak, Johnson was a team captain and student defensive analyst, helping the coaches lead the team to a 7-3 record and a third straight playoff berth. After graduation, Johnson joined the Skyhawks staff, helping out as a student assistant for the defensive side of the ball.

In her time with the Skyhawks, Johnson has worked with several position groups, including the defensive line, linebackers, and defensive backs. In addition to helping out on defense, Johnson is also heavily involved with special teams, first taking on the title of specialists coach in the fall of 2023 before earning a promotion to the assistant special teams coordinator in the fall of 2024. Johnson also serves in several roles behind the scenes, such as director of player personnel and assistant film analyst.

While with the Skyhawks, Johnson has coached multiple players who have earned league recognition, including recent graduate Hunter Villavicencio, who earned Second-Team All-RMAC honors in 2023 and an All-RMAC Honorable Mention nod in 2024. Additionally, under Johnson’s guidance, Kuba Betlinski earned RMAC Academic Honor Roll recognition for the 2024-25 academic year.

Johnson is currently pursuing her undergraduate degree in sports administration with a minor in coaching and anticipates graduating in the spring of 2026.
