Clayton Johnson is in his second season with with the Skyhawks football program. He was promoted to Offensive Coordinator in December 2015 after spending the 2015 season as the offensive line coach.  
 
Most recently, Johnson spent the 2014 season as the offensive line coach at New Mexico Highlands University.  He coached the Cowboys offensive line that produced the No. 1 passing offense in Division II.  The Cowboys offense improved by 24.2 yards per game, 9.1 points per game, pass efficiency (10.5), red zone scoring and sacks allowed (-12) from the 2013 season.
 
Prior to joining the Cowboys staff, Johnson was a graduate assistant offensive line coach at California State University-Fresno for the 2012 and 2013 seasons where he helped the Bulldogs to back-to-back Mountain West Conference championships.  He spent the 2011-12 season as the offensive line, recruiting coordinator, and strength and conditioning coach at West Valley College in Saratoga, Calif.  He also coached the offensive line at Gavilan College in Gilroy, Calif. for the 2009 and 2010 seasons.
 
Johnson's playing career began at Gavilan College.  He was an All-Coast Conference selection in 2005 and 2006.  As a sophomore in 2006, he was a Junior College Academic All-American selection and captained the team that won the conference championship.  He graduated from GC in 2008 with an Associate of Arts degree in Liberal Arts.
 
Johnson played at the University of Nevada-Reno in 2007 and 2008.  He was an Academic All-Western Athletic Conference selection in 2008, and he earned the Basalite Big Blocker Award.  A Silver and Blue Scholar, he was named to the Dean's List before graduating from Nevada Reno in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice.  He received his Master of Science degree in Criminology in 2014 from Cal State Fresno.
