Virnel Moon enters his first season as an assist coach for the Fort Lewis College football team in 2022.
Moon spent the previous season as a wide receivers coach for Southwest Minnesota State University.Â
Prior to SMSU, Moon was the receivers and returners coach at Grossmont College (2019-20). He was also an assistant coach at Colorado Mesa University during the 2018 season.

Moon played collegiately at Colorado Mesa University from 2013-17. He earned second team CCA All-American honors as a return specialist in 2017, averaging 28 yards per return with three kickoff returns for a touchdown. During his senior season he caught 23 passes for 633 yards and eight touchdowns. Moon, a member of three conference championships teams, was invited to the Cincinnati Bengals rookie mini-camp in 2018.

Moon earned his bachelor’s degree from Colorado Mesa University in 2018 with a degree in sports management.
