Jim Wilkinson will embark on his fourth season as a volunteer assistant coach for the Skyhawks in 2025-26.

In 2024-25, Wilkinson assisted first-year head coach Jordan Mast, helping the Skyhawks to a 19-12 overall record and a 12-8 mark in RMAC play, and earning a trip back to the RMAC Tournament. The Skyhawks routed Western Slope rival Colorado Mesa 89-65 on the road in the opening round before falling to Regis 69-62 in the RMAC Tournament Semifinals. On a national scale, Fort Lewis ranked second in steals per game (12.5), sixth in turnovers forced per game (19.35), and seventh in turnover margin (+6.9) across all of NCAA Division II. Three Skyhawks later garnered All-RMAC honors, including Biko Johnson (First-Team), Chuol Deng (Second-Team), and Tru Allen (Honorable Mention).

In his first two seasons at Fort Lewis, Wilkinson aided the Skyhawks through one of their most successful runs, capturing both the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Regular Season and Tournament Championships in 2022-23, followed by a second-consecutive RMAC Tournament Championship in 2023-24. During the same span, the Skyhawks produced the second-best record in all of NCAA Division II at 58-8, spent 31 consecutive weeks on the National Association of Basketball Coaches Top 25 Poll, secured back-to-back No. 2 rankings in the South-Central Region at the NCAA Tournament, and finished first in the nation in percent capacity (73.13 percent) and fourth in the nation in average attendance (2,011).

A Pennsylvania high school coach for 30 years, Wilkinson compiled a 540-120 overall record across his seven years with Wilkington High School in Pittsburgh and his 23 years with Adington High School in Philadelphia. Wilkinson is now retired and enjoys life in Durango with his wife.
